Here’s the first post of wallpapers for your iPhone. I don’t have an iPhone (thanks, t-mobile), but if I did I’d so want some awesome wallpapers. Let me know if you use it. I’m just curious. I’m open to requests, as well.

I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier

January 19th, 2008 by Tabatha

tea2.jpg   Warning: This post is all over the place, mirroring my brain exactly.

I’m trying to avoid things that will hurt me. It’s tough. I already had a Dr. Pepper and 3 cups of tea. I’m so bad. So, because of my terrible ways, I’m now enjoying (yeah right) a cup of Alka Seltzer. It seems getting myself addicted to coffee has it’s downfalls. The pain got worse, and now it’s more tolerable, so I assume it’s getting better. I hope so. I’d like to be able to have a cocktail every now and then.

Jon Jon called me tonight. I’ve been stalking him for days, so it was nice to actually get a call. I hear more will follow.Yay! I can’t wait.

I found this awesome list of ideas over at Wish Jar. It’s super inspirational. You can even download it as a PDF. I’m going to make a map of my hand. If I can ever stop drawing pictures of my coffee cups. If I can’t drink out of them, I may as well enjoy them in other ways. I also wrote in my actual paper journal AND in Seth’s journal. I usually only write in my journal when I’m miserable, so that’s a rare and good thing for me. I drew 3 pictures, too. There’s a lot of other awesomeness going on at Keri’s blog, too. check her out?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the soul lately. If anyone has any good reading material on the subject, let me know. I’ve read “Spook” by Mary Roach. It’s good and I recommend it. It’s that type of books/websites I’m looking for.

Thrift Store Finds #1

December 30th, 2007 by Tabatha

I don’t know who knows, but I LOVE thrift stores. I can spend hours in a good one and not feel like I wasted any time. Theres so much awesomeness I feel like a pirate. Arrr! check out all the treasures, matey. There’s also a lot of junk to laugh at. Like, I understand how you could easily part with some of that junk. What I want to know is what the fuck ever made someone buy some of it?

Anyway, I thought it’d be cool to post photos of some of the neat stuff I find. Yesterday was the first time I went to one in a while. The one I like is America’s Thrift Store, mostly because it’s so huge you HAVE to find something. They build them inside old Wal-Mart buildings. They’re a little more expensive than Goodwill and the like, but still very cheap.

So anyway, yesterday I got a few things, but these were the best:

japancup.jpg

A little Japanese China teacup. It matches my rainbow coffee cup, also thrifted. The lines are so delicate. I drank coffee from it this morning. I felt like a princess! It was love at first sight. I believe it cost .59

soldier.jpg

An iron nutcracker. I assume he was a bookend because he’s flat and hollow on the back. This guy is fucking heavy. You could easily kill a man with him. This is my version of buying Christmas decorations early, and also my alternative to buying a gun. This is your first and only warning. This little piece of security cost me $2.49

I also got the Word for Windows Design Companion for version 2 for 1992. Theres a lot of design inspiration in it. Mostly text design. It’s really nice for such an old book. It put me back a whole $1.98

And for anyone else who loves thrifting, a couple of links to thrift-related blogs.

Something Structured, but not this post.

I decided against taking the job. I know I would have loved it, but it would have caused too much stress at this point. Also, at any given time, we have a month until we can move, given our month-to-month lease. It just would not have been worth it. Right now, and hopefully for at least a little while, Gary is making enough for us to survive, move, and whatever we need to do. Once we move, we will most definitely need to both be working, though. We’re so accustomed to cheap rent, regular rent will be crazy.

I don’t have my car today. I left it over at Ray’s because it was making a funny noise and it was really too late to be figuring out what it was. So even if I wanted to, I couldn’t go anywhere. Not that I want to, mind you. I’d really just rather stay home in my cold house waiting for Gary and Seth to get here.

I’m going to start a bird project. I think my art/design/fingerpaintings are too all over the place. I want to focus on one subject, though not one medium, for a while. I’m gonna make all kinds of birds. I need to make a list of different styles I want to do them in. I don’t really feel like I’ve developed my style yet. It probably has a lot to do with too much influence.
