Can people read some shit into a little song, or what?! And why is it always “DRUG RELAPSE!!” that they read into it? Gah.

I don’t know why I still read songmeanings.net. I guess it’s like reading the Sunday comics, anymore.

Also, the doctor I wanted is booked until the end of December. I wonder if I could’ve slipped into their charts by letting them know I am NOT having a baby and I just need this one visit. “Pretty please?!” Goddamn my strange life rules.

The more I read this “How Children Learn”, the more I think that it’s about me. Now can everyone else please read this book, especially my future employers and educators, so that I may get by in life in some way other than ‘just barely’? It is calming, though.

Notes from “How Children Learn“

“All I’m saying in this book can be summed up in two words. Trust children. Nothing could be more simple or more difficult. Difficult, because to trust children, we must trust ourselves - and most of us were taught as children that we can’t be trusted. And so we go on treating children as we ourselves were treated, calling this “reality” or saying bitterly ‘ if I could put up with it, they can put up with it’”

“I don’t think children with any range of real choices are going to want to spend much time in places where nothing but learning happens, and where the only adults they meet are child specialists whose job is to watch them and make them do things.”

“…I’m afraid this is not what most people understand by the word “education”. They understand it as being made to go to a place called school and there being made to learn something they don’t much want to learn, under the threat that bad things will happen to them if they don’t. Needless to say, most people don’t much like this game and stop playing as soon as they can.”

“They are often, no doubt, cruel to each other; but if they are near another child who is badly hurt or very unhappy, they soon become very distressed. It is a very rare child who is capable of the kind of sustained, deliberate cruelty so often shown by adults.”

“In ‘Never To Late’, I wrote about an eight year old who could go from an up mood, to a down mood, and then back up in a 30 minute cello lesson. When people are down, it’s useless to push them or urge them on. That just frightens and discourages them more. What we have to do is draw back, take off the pressure, reassure them, console, give them time to regain- as in time they will- enough courage and energy to get back to the task.”

“…the best games with children flow easily and naturally from the situation of the moment. We are not likely to get good games by planning them in advance, but will probably get them if we play with them just for the fun of it.”

Numb, originally uploaded by tabiii.

Seth got his teeth pulled today. It wasn’t pleasant, yet it wasn’t as miserable as I had expected. he didn’t have to be held down, and he didn’t kick and scream. Ok, he kicked a little, but gave up easily. He will def never believe us when we tell him something doesn’t hurt, though. I need a new line to get him in a dentist chair.

I told him he’s probably the coolest kid in school now.

after the initial “I would rather die than get out of this bed right now”, I loved life. Maybe it’s a good day? It had better be. I’ve got a long one ahead of me.

I think I’m killing the flu (or whatever it is) with Vitamin C and Zinc. Take that, monster. I am your fuckin’ master. Sit. Stay.

“When I figure out how to do this all by myself, your planet is DOOMED!”

The new president of the united states is Barack Obama? YES!

He lost the vote in Louisiana, so our votes didn’t matter, but he won and that does!

evolvevolvevolvevolvevolve.

I came inside and told gramma we have a new president and what she said made me want to vomit. I don’t even want to type it out in my blog. So sad. And THE reason he lost here. WWJD, gramma?

Halloween was fun times. I was up for way too long and the next day sucked, but it was worth it. I’m still feeling drained from that, and I took a break from the Vyvanse today since I didn’t have to work. So far it’s fatigue and headache. YAY! That’s a quick addiction.  Kind of scary.

Haley jacked my rainbow shirt. The one I just got that made me feel better just looking at it. I went to get another one, but they only had XL left. =/

I have two movies to watch but, unfortunately, I have no friends around to watch with. I feel especially lonely tonight.
